My research mainly involves the design and application of fountain codes and network coding, originally proposed in the information theory community. Although the benefits of fountain codes and network coding over traditional solutions have been proven in theory, it is unclear how to apply them in multi-hop wireless networks with practical solutions. My research attempts to fill the important gap between theory and practice for these new coding schemes in networking by proposing innovative and realistic solutions to improve the performance, resilience, and reliability of multi-hop wireless networks.
