About Me

I am currently an NSERC postdoctoral fellow, working under the guidance of Prof. Michael C. Gastpar and Prof. Bobak Nazer. I recently finished my Ph.D. in the Department of ECE, University of Toronto. My supervisors are Prof. Frank R. Kschischang and Prof. Baochun Li. I received my M.Sc. degree from the University of Toronto in 2009, and the B.Eng. degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2006.

My research philosophy is to bridge the gap between theoretical advances and system implementations. In particular, I am interested in adapting new ideas and tools from information theory, coding theory, and optimization to design better networking systems. Currently, I am focusing on applying network coding to improve wireless networks, as well as adapting recent optimization methods to improve cloud computing.

In my spare time, I enjoy learning math (especially, abstract algebra) and solving math puzzles. I also practice meditation and Tai Chi regularly.
